The Position

With a mission to conduct effective regional planning and maximize efficient use of resources, SOCWA operates facilities for the treatment and disposal of wastewater in South Orange County, California, at three treatment facilities. It also provides recycled water for beneficial purposes, administers an area-wide Industrial Pretreatment Program, manages a regional water reclamation permit, and directs cooperative purchasing and regional service contracts. SOCWA has a full-time staff of 60. Its CIP budget averages approximately $15 million a year. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Senior Engineer manages activities as set forth by the Director; coordinates assigned activities with other units, groups and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in professional engineering or related field, California certification as a Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineer AND a minimum of 10 years professional engineering experience. Wastewater treatment design and construction experience is preferred.
